The public is more familiar with bad design than good design. It is, in effect, conditioned to prefer bad design, because that is what it lives with. The new becomes threatening, the old reassuring. 公众对糟糕的设计要比好的设计更加熟悉，于是，大家习惯于选择不好的设计，因为和他们朝夕相处。新事物让人感受到威胁，而旧事务让人安心。
